A Foodies Forage + Tasting
Forage and taste seasonal wild ingredients with weed convert, stylist and foodie Marnee Fox.
As the feast half of Forage to Feast Australia, Marnee will take you on a journey through the landscape observing and getting to know wild edible plants, most of which are labeled ‘weeds.’ The highlight of this workshop is that you’ll also get to taste them on location, utilised in a very creative mini mobile degustation. YUUUUUM!
With a menu that offers such delights as salted bunya with three weed salsa verde and an edible pot plant, you’ll be feeling like a culinary alchemist when, post-workshop, you get all plant details, recipes, sustainable styling tips and suggested dinner party menu delivered straight to your inbox to get you ready to create and host a foraged dinner party for yourself and lucky friends.
What better table conversation than the three-weed salsa verde you’ve made and served up after a quick hunt in your backyard, or the delicious pickled lili pili’s you’ve offered up, foraged from your local street trees?
You can expect wild spring treats including chickweed, Madeira vine and juicy, sour rambling dock to name a few.
Dress for the weather with a hat and sunscreen. Wear comfy walking shoes and wear them with whatever makes you feel like your best self, be it shorts, a cocktail dress + sneakers or your take on a suburban foragers attire.
Please note, that this is not a harvesting outing, but a carefully designed workshop that will introduce you to Marnee’s favourite wild edibles of the inner west and Sydney, giving clear identification clues to these specific ingredients so as to confidently recognise them in your own surroundings. We will also cover important aspects of ethics, legalities and safety.
Most importantly, bring along your wide-eyed inner child and a thirst for an empowering, delicious adventure. You will never be able to un-see the restaurant quality ingredients that have been hiding right under your nose and all discovered while actually tasting them in a table-ready degustation course.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are we going to be harvesting plants?
No, we will learn about plants. We will only collect a few leaves and flowers here and there and with those, we will discuss ID features. The main aim of the workshop is to empower you with identification skills so that when you go back home you can recognise with confidence some useful plants in your own garden/surroundings.
How is this workshop different from other foraging workshops?
This is not a workshop where encyclopaedic plant information is offered. This workshop is for people who are not only interested in plants, but those who love to cook and share food. The hope is, that you will walk away feeling empowered to forage for specific restaurant quality ingredients.
Are we going to scramble in the wilderness?
No, no bush bashing. We will walk on even ground and sometimes might walk on the grass commons, that's it. Bring your walking shoes and you will be fine.
Is this suitable for elderly people or less mobile people?
Unfortunately, this particular workshop is not suitable for less mobile people as we do cover a decent sized area on foot. We do however stop frequently to observe and eat!
Is this suitable for little kids
We don’t reccommend bringing young kids. We want all guests to get the most out of the workshop and enjoy the calm of nature. However, if your young one is very attentive, mindful of others and a wild foodie in the making then do go ahead and book them a ticket. We only offer the one price for this particular workshop.
Can we try the plants? Yes, I will offer a mini mobile degustation as well as samples of the plants we talk about for you to try. I believe taste memories are just as important as touch, smell and sight.
Can I come with my dog?
Yes, as long as is well behaved with the other guests and does not try and gobble anyones food.
What if it looks like it’s going to rain on the day?
Plants love the rain and nature’s salad bar will be yummier for it. If there is a chance of rain I will let you know and we will go ahead, just bring an umbrella or your rain gear. If it is scheduled to rain hard or strong wind I will cancel the workshop and either refund your ticket or move your booking to another date.
What if I change my mind or can no longer attend?
Please make sure you can attend before finalising your booking. I understand that unexpected events happen, so in case you can no longer come, pass on your ticket to a friend. See this as when you buy a concert ticket. If you cannot go anymore, give a present to someone you know would enjoy it. Please let us know your friends contact details before the workshop so we can send information regarding meeting place, weather updates and what to bring on to them
Can I ask specific questions on the workshop?
Absolutely. I love questions and if you have any burning ones just let me know in advance or on the day and I will endeavour to provide you with answers or follow up with links that would help in your quest.
