Two free tours coming up
Two council sponsored tours coming up in May.
Sat May 16, thanks to the Green Living Centre, in a graveyard!
Staged amongst one of the oldest graveyards of Australia, St. Stephens Memorial Park in Camperdown, the event will be the chance to wonder and meet some of the oldest trees of the area, while learning about the unfolding of the relationship between humans and botany.
Species of great importance are there, like the remnants of a micro patch of native grasses, discovered in 1996. Since then an endless effort by various volunteers -and a no-mow/no-herbicide exclusion area- ensured the preservation of one of the few living patches of what it was before settlement.
This is also the site for other historic plantings, like wild sorrel and chinese elms, not so native and definetely of wide spread. So come to meet the most common wild edibles, learn about their uses and empower yourself with knowledge, as many of them live in your garden too :)
Unfortunately this workshop is already booked out (within a week of being advertised) so if you are local and keen for it to happen again, enlist in their waiting list, and that would make a clear statement for the Green Living Centre to put it on again ;)
What is not booked out and also free, is a Wild Edibles Workshop organised by the Ku Ring Gai Council. This will be in Roseville on May 9. If you are on the North Shore you might want to book for that one, follow this link>>
In all weediness :)
